Jenidiah's Review
All I can say is "Wow." This Marc Copely guy really took me by surprise, and usually I'm one of the first people to hear about the good new up-and-coming groups. In his music, there's a mix of alternative music like Our Lady Peace or Oasis and old stuff like Bowie and Iggy Pop. It's spectacular how they put this together into one sound, making it like no other. My favorite song off of the album, mainstream enough, is the first single to be put out "Surprise." It's about a break-up and how a guy is going crazy from it. I've been going through a good bit with girls lately, losing one that I'd been with for over 2 years, and this really hit it on the right spot, so to speak. The album is filled with notable songs, but "Surprise" is my fave, followed by "BackSlide." Now "Backslide" is a bit different than most of the other songs on the album, letting Josh Reese, the drummer, show off a bit of his talents and they perform a little bit of a closer-to-punk song. It sounds very awesome, and I actually think this song will do better with the mainstream music-buyers than their first single "Surprise" will. I don't know, just my input. Also, even though the website is not all that filled up right now, it definitely has potential. There's a very nice layout on it using Flash, and once the Copely name gets out there more there will definitely be more content to fill it up with. Going there you can find picture galleries of the guys, biographies of the band and every single song on the album, and you can also listen to music streams of "Surprise" in Real Audio and Windows Media format. To sum it up, I'm very happy to have heard of this guy's music. This band is amazingly talented, and I can't wait to get the CD and see them in concert if they come to the Southeastern USA.
